Spider-Man 2 Fans Miss The Social Media Feed

Insomniac's first Spider-Man game had a social media feed you could view on the map, seeing what everyone in New York City thought of the web-slinging menace. There were people asking if he ever ate his own webs, celebrating Wilson Fisk's downfall, sharing fan fiction, and poking fun at the Daily Bugle. But if you look at the map on Spider-Man 2, you'll notice there's no social media.

Fans aren't too happy it's missing, since it would have provided an interesting glimpse into the public's reaction to the Symbiote suit. We get snippets from the Danikast and J. Jonah Jameson's podcast, but nothing from the people on the ground.

The social media was such a missed opportunity with the Symbiote. Would've loved to see what New Yorkers thought of Bully Lowenthal.

There's also the opportunity to explore the public's reaction to being transformed into mindless Symbiotes, or even to see comments on Miles Morales' new suit. Do they hate it as much as fans, or is it a bonafide hit in-universe?

In the original, Spider-Man even had his own account, with 15.3 million fans. His alias was the "NYCWallCrawler". Think Kick-Ass hosting a Myspace page in the 2010 movie, only without Nicolas Cage doxxing him. It would've been fun to see how he updated his socials with his new suit and attitude. I doubt Symbiote Spidey would have a description like, "Whether it's trying to save the world, or a cat from a tree... I'll be there!"

Aside from the social media feed, fans are calling on Insomniac to add back character bios. In the original, you can read up on anyone you meet throughout the main and side stories. Insomniac could even take things a step further now by crediting the characters' creators and first appearances.

"There's no database on characters you meet," @OcCULTureCritic said. "That was something I always enjoyed."

"Something else that I feel is missing is that this one doesn't have a character bio page in the menus like the first two did," @StevenBBills said.

You probably also noticed that you can't re-listen to the Danikast or J. Jonah Jameson's podcast. In the original, each instalment was listed in its own menu, so you could always go back and catch the ones you missed.

Weirdly, this isn't an option anymore, so if you're worried about not hearing the full thing, you have to sit on a rooftop and wait for them to wrap up before jumping into crime-fighting or missions.

Maybe one day Spidey will return to whatever the fictional equivalent of Twitter is, but for now, he's nowhere to be found on social media, lurking in the shadows as he puts himself through hours of JJJ.
